Children’s Key Person and Learning Journals
All children have a ‘Key Person’ who works closely with the child & parents/carers. This ‘Key’ person will observe, take photos, video/audio clips to record progress and show parents their child’s individual ongoing development. This ‘Key Person’ system supports the children to build honest and respectful relationships with other children and adults
By adopting this system staff can plan and encourage the children’s next steps within the EYFS curriculum. As some staff are part-time, all children also have a ‘Key Buddy’ to cover for the times when the Key Person is not at the pre-school.
The children have an online learning journal for parents to view at home on tablets, computers or smart phones. This system is called Tapestry and it is a secure online learning journal where parents can view how their child is progressing.
Parents are encouraged to contribute to this journal by reviewing their child’s milestones and achievements at home and uploading them for staff to see.
